Individuals who have ever wished they could own their professor’s office chair or admired a lighting fixture in Ballantine Hall now have a chance with the IU Surplus Store.
This 10,000-foot warehouse offers students, faculty and Bloomington residents affordable deals on the University’s used goods. The store is part of a University-sponsored initiative “limiting the university’s environmental foot print,” according to the IU Office of Sustainability website.
Items for sale include computers, printers and office, dorm or apartment furniture. Availability is solely reliant on donation.
All sales benefit the University department the item came from.
This season’s goods were advertised as the “nicest stuff” the store had stocked recently on the IU Surplus Facebook page, and customers were urged to “baby, buy, buy, buy.”
Individuals can purchase items online at govdeals.com or in-person at the 10th Street warehouse. Accepted methods of payment are personal check or money order.
