Jim Lehrer of PBS NewsHour will make an appearance on the Bloomington campus April 13.
Lehrer is a guest of the School of Journalism, the IU Center on Congress, WTIU and the Institute for Advanced Study.
Although the event is free and open to the public, tickets will be required to gain admission. Tickets became available for pickup April 2 and are still available for pickup at Ernie Pyle Hall.
Lehrer will be presented with the Lee H. Hamilton Public Service Fellowship during his stay on campus.
“Jim Lehrer has set the standard for journalistic excellence, professional integrity and personal civility,” Hamilton, director of the Center on Congress, said in the press release.
Hamilton served in Congress from 1965 to 1999.
John Bodnar is the director of the Institute for Advanced Study and also Chancellor’s Professor in the Department of History.
“The Institute for Advanced Study has a long history of bringing distinguished public servants to the IU campus,” Bodnar said in the press release. “We are particularly proud to be able to honor two such individuals — Jim Lehrer and Lee Hamilton — in one special occasion.”
