Farm Sanctuary president speaks in Bloomington

Gene Baur, cofounder and president of Farm Sanctuary, will speak in Bloomington today.

His visit is sponsored by Ivy Tech Community College and Robling Law, LLC.

Baur spoke at Swain Hall West and in the City Hall Council Chambers on Tuesday.

Farm Sanctuary is the nation’s leading farm animal protection organization.

Baur is on a speaking tour in the United States to raise awareness about the negative consequences of industrialized factory farming. He will talk about issues including the sentience of farm animals, legislative campaigns against factory farming, the sustainability and environmental effects of animal agriculture, the local food movement and the economics of animal agribusiness.

Copies of his book, “Farm Sanctuary: Changing Hearts and Minds about Animals and Food,” will be available for sale at the events.
