Family argument leads to injuries

A woman accused of stealing from her sister allegedly beat her mother, who tried to intervene, resulting in a hospital visit, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Steve
Kellams said.

Police responded to a call reporting a fight at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at 1009 N. Illinois St. When they arrived, they found the victim, a 37-year-old woman, with a crooked, bleeding nose, loose teeth and a bite mark on her right arm, Kellams said. She was transported to IU-Health Bloomington Hospital.

The victim told police her daughter, 19, had verbally argued with her other daughter, 21.

The 21-year-old had accused the 19-year-old of stealing, the mother told police.
Kellams said the victim told police she had tried to intervene in the verbal fight, but her 19-year-old daughter allegedly attacked her.

The mother told police her daughter had also strangled her during the alleged beating.

The alleged assailant had left the residence by the time police arrived, but police were able to contact her by phone, Kellams said. However, Kellams said the woman refused to cooperate with police.

Police have requested a warrant for the woman’s arrest on possible charges of strangulation and aggravated battery, Kellams said.

Police have not released the names of the victim or the alleged assailant, but they will after the warrant is processed by a judge, Kellams said.
