Drug discovered during alleged domestic battery

A woman, 23, called police just before 6 p.m. Saturday in response to an alleged battery by the father of her children, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Lucas Tate said.

Police interviewed the woman at her home on the 1300 block of West 13th Street, but the suspect, Shaun East, 23, wasn’t there when police arrived, Tate said.

The victim said East hit her in front of their child, who is just shy of 2 years old.

Police also found a small bag of methamphetamine on East, Tate said.

East was arrested and could be charged with Class D felony domestic battery in the presence of a minor and B felony possession of methamphetamine, Tate said.
