A man, 21, was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital with an eye swollen shut and half his face swollen and bruised, but Bloomington Police Department Lt. Bill Parker said the man refuses to name his attacker.
The victim told police the attacker called him Sunday at about 3:30 a.m. and instructed him to come to the attacker’s residence at Campus Corner Apartments. The victim complied, Parker said.
The victim told police for three hours, the attacker slapped his face about 30 times. He also threatened to kill the victim, Parker said.
Police interviewing the victim thought the attacker could also be charged with confinement for not allowing the victim to leave. However, the victim, who identified himself as Korean, said it would be against his cultural upbringing to leave the home of his attacker, who is older than him, Parker said.
The victim refuses to name the attacker because he said he fears cultural repercussions, Parker said.
Nothing else will be done in the investigation unless the victim decides to report the crime, Parker said.
