Chi Ping Chuang, a 29-year-old graduate student in kinesiology and exercise science, was found dead just before 5 p.m. Friday in his residence at Campus View Apartments.
Chuang was found by his roommate and friend, who called police.
IU Police Department Chief Keith Cash said there is no evidence of foul play and no obvious cause of death so far. The Monroe County Coroner's office is continuing the investigation.
Chuang is originally from Taiwan and attended IU to earn a master's degree.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends," Cash said.
Cash said University officials are working with Chuang's family to make arrangements. He also encouraged students in need to contact IU's Counseling and Psychological Services.
