Julie Brill, a commissioner of the Federal Trade Commission, will present a lecture Wednesday at the IU Maurer School of Law.
“We are deeply privileged to be joined by Commissioner Brill, who is one of the nation’s leading experts on information privacy, as well as one of our most effective and insightful champions of the public good,” said distinguished professor and C. Ben Dutton Professor of Law Fred Cate in a press release.
Her projects since joining the commission in 2010 include protecting consumer privacy, encouraging appropriate advertising substantiation, guarding consumers from financial fraud and maintaining competition in industries involving advanced technology and health care, according to the press release.
“We are honored that she would make time in her demanding schedule to participate in the Wells Scholars Senior Seminar, visit the Center for Law, Ethics and Applied Research in Health Information (CLEAR) and deliver an address to law students and the public,” Dutton said.
