A welcome heatwave: Record temperatures for March gives students reason to rejoice

Spring

Pack away the scarves and bust out the shorts. Get ready to endure a few more days of boiling classrooms. Summer has hit the IU-Bloomington campus early.

The entire week will boast above-average temperatures. Monday’s high temperatures broke the Bloomington record, 68 degrees in 2003. Last year, on March 19, the high temperature in Bloomington was just 59 degrees.

The current record, 72 degrees in 2003, will also most likely be shattered by today’s high temperatures in the 80s.

Tomorrow’s high temperature, too, is also expected to break records.

Records were broken in Indianapolis as Monday’s peak 82 degrees surpassed the 1921 record of 78 degrees.
