IU police did not initially arrest student Keegan Leisz, 18, for public intoxication or illegal consumption, but they did so after he allegedly assaulted an IU-Health Bloomington Hospital nurse.
Police found Leisz intoxicated and unconscious at about 3 a.m. Friday on the fourth floor of Foster Harper, IU Police Department Chief Keith Cash said. An ambulance transported Leisz to the hospital.
The police were not done with Leisz, however. They were called back to the hospital at 5:30 a.m. after Leisz allegedly became “combative,” and the student struck a nurse in the face, Cash said.
Officers transported Leisz to jail on preliminary charges of battery of a health care worker, disorderly conduct, public intoxication and illegal consumption, Cash said.
