IU Student Foundation announces Metz grant winners

Each winner granted $5,000 for various projects

Six organizations on campus are the recipients of spring 2012 Metz Grants, making them eligible for up to $5,000 each.

After two rounds of interviews, the following organizations secured funding for the 2012-13 year: Best Buddies, the Autism Mentoring Program, the Neuroscience Club, Books & Beyond, Gamma Phi Omega International and Alpha Chi Omega.

Campus student organizations are eligible if registered through the Student Life and Learning Office.

The programs must also demonstrate financial need and be planning philanthropic events to be eligible to receive funding, which comes from the Arthur R. Metz Philanthropic Opportunity Fund.

Applications were due earlier this month. Applicants registered their grant request under one of five categories: diversity, local, state, national or international.

During the academic year, the Metz Grant Program will award a total of $50,000, to be divided equally between semesters.

The fund is administered through the IU Student Foundation, which conducts campus events that raise funds for scholarships.
