Consul General of Canada to speak on trade relations at IU

Consul General of Canada Ray Norton will speak about Indiana and Canadian trade relations when he visits campus Feb. 24.

Indiana and Canada have a trading relationship. Indiana exports more to Canada than to its next-seven-largest export markets combined, according to a press release from the University.

Norton, who leads the Canadian Consulate General, is a representative of Canada in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Michigan.

The Consulate General promotes Canadian interests, such as trade and culture, and provides visa and immigration services.

Norton will also speak about security in North America and abroad, Canadian energy imports to the United States and shared environment management, with a particular focus on protecting the Great Lakes.

Norton will speak from 10 to 11:15 a.m. in Woodburn 120.

The event is free and open to the public.
