Board of Trustees votes to increase campus housing rates

The IU Board of Trustees voted Friday to approve an increase the 2012-13 school year on-campus housing costs.

The increase will affect housing costs on a sliding scale, said Mark Land, associate vice president of University communications.

At the high end, an 8-percent increase will occur for the cost of housing in select on-campus residence halls, such as housing arrangements in Collins Living Learning Center. Some facilities, however, won’t experience an increase, Land said.

These increases come in response to recent additions to IU’s campus, such as the apartment-style housing at Union Street Center and renovations to facilities such as Briscoe Quad.
