Missing Bloomington woman found dead

UPDATE:

Sources have confirmed Diane Singleton, 57, was found dead by a volunteer search group at about 5:30 p.m. Monday.

She was found near the intersection of Ind. 446 and East Third Street, not far from her home.

The Bloomington Police Department declined to comment.

EARLIER:

Diane Singleton, 57, has been missing since early Monday morning, according to Bloomington Police Department reports.

She is missing from the area near Indiana State Road 446 and Moores Pike and is possibly wearing pajamas.

Sgt. Steve Kellams said police aren’t sure if a crime has been committed, but patrols are still searching the area for her.

He also said though the temperature reached 60 degrees last night, 12 to 15 hours of exposure in poor weather conditions could cause harm.

A regional Silver Alert was declared for Singleton shortly after 1 p.m. Identified in the alert as Mildred Diane Singleton, she is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, 130 pounds with short brown and gray hair and brown eyes. She may be wearing a dark long-sleeved shirt and sweater, pants of an unidentified color and no shoes.

The alert also says she has been missing since about 4 a.m., and authorities believe she may be in danger.

BPD had begun utilizing helicopters and K-9 units in the search for Singleton, Sgt. Kellams said.

Volunteer search parties are still forming, and citizens are encouraged to call BPD at 812-339-4477.
