An arrest has been made in connection to a shooting spree that occurred last week that ended in the death of Pizza X delivery driver Adam Sarnecki, the Bloomington Police Department confirmed Monday.
James D. Finney, 21, was arrested early Monday in relation to Sarnecki's murder and is also suspected by police in two other shootings, Bloomington Chief Mike Diekhoff said at a 3 p.m. press conference.
On Oct. 31, a 60-year-old woman was shot through the thigh while walking her dog on West Ninth Street. A day earlier, a man broke into the Smoke-N-Lotto Specialty Store located on South Leonard Springs Road, in Monroe County, by shooting his way through the glass entry way.
Sarnecki, 22, who attended Bloomington High School South but was not an IU student, was shot shortly after midnight Friday. Police said Sarnecki told officers he witnessed someone trying to break into another employee's vehicle behind the south side Pizza X store where he worked.
Sarnecki confronted the suspect, who then shot him. Sarnecki died from the injury at 4:40 a.m. at IU-Health Bloomington Hospital.
Diekhoff said Finney admitted to all three crimes.
