In his simply titled “Christmas,” Michael Bublé combines his vocal talents with some of the holiday’s most iconic music.
Bublé’s jazzy renditions are undoubtedly a staple of the holiday season. Tracks such as “Jingle Bells” cannot be left out of any holiday album, and Bublé adds his own spin by featuring vocal trio The Puppini Sisters. The resulting sound is retro and nostalgic, which is not only one of Bublé’s own personal strengths but a strength of the song itself. The same is true for “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town,” which focuses as much on the full band in the background as it does Bublé’s vocals.
The best tracks on the album are the classically portrayed Christmas songs, such as “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” which he keeps true to the original.
Bublé’s distinctive voice lends itself perfectly to these Christmas tunes. The album feels as if it debuted decades ago instead of last week. This nostalgic sound heightens the timeless quality of the holiday.
