Through lies, scandals and defeats, the Big Ten saw five new faces added to conference football rosters in 2011.
One of those was Indiana Coach Kevin Wilson. After a 1-11 season, Wilson is no longer the rookie, nor is he one of the newest faces to the conference.
On Monday, Ohio State University announced Urban Meyer as its new football head coach.
The former University of Florida head coach led the Gators to two national championships before stepping down for health reasons and to spend more time with family.
Ohio State Athletics Director Gene Smith said Meyer was the only candidate contacted for the position that Jim Tressel resigned from in May.
The former SEC coach recognized his former conference as the best in college football but said he doesn’t think the Big Ten is far off.
“My six years in Florida?” Meyer said. “That was my dream job. I will always be a Gator.”
