BPD assists in child pornography arrest

A west-central Indiana man was arrested for distribution and possession of child pornography Tuesday, the Indiana State Police indicated in a press release.

The state police initiated an investigation Sept. 29 after receiving information that an unidentified person was using peer-to-peer file sharing programs to distribute child
pornographic images

During the investigation, the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force determined that a person residing at a specific address in Farmersburg, Ind., was
involved in the distribution of child pornography using the internet.

Farmersburg is about 15 miles south of Terre Haute, Ind.

At about 10 a.m. Tuesday, members of the Indiana State Police Crimes Against Children and Cyber Crime Unit, along with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, members of Indiana State Police Putnamville Post and the Bloomington Police
Department, executed a search warrant at the address.

While searching the premises, officers discovered child pornographic images and videos on a computer that Keith Edward Unsinger, 44, of Farmersburg had allegedly
been using.

Investigators also determined Unsinger had allegedly disseminated the material via peer-to-peer file sharing sites. Unsinger was arrested and taken to the Sullivan
County Jail.

Unsinger was charged with dissemination of child pornography, a Class C felony, and possession of child pornography, a Class D felony.
