For the second time this season, a Hoosier earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors Monday.

True freshman wide receiver Shane Wynn won the award after Saturday’s 41-20 loss to Illinois, and fellow true freshman running back D’Angelo Roberts collected the award after week three against South Carolina State.

Wynn returned the opening kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown Saturday.

It was the first return for a touchdown for IU since 2009 and was the second longest in team history.

Three Hoosiers have had 100-yard kickoff returns. The most recent was Marcus Thigpen against Ball State in 2006.

Wynn earned 148 return yards Saturday, averaging 37 yards on each of his four returns.

Wynn’s performance tied for the seventh most return yards in a single game in school history and set a freshman school record.
