Streaky team to play pair of road games

The Hoosiers are in need of a comeback.

After a 4-0 start, the IU field hockey team has faltered, going 1-3 in its last four matches.

“We get a little break from Big Ten action this week trying to prepare for Big East opponents,” IU Coach Amy Robertson said in an interview with IU Athletics. “We’re really trying to bounce back from last weekend and get excited for the opponents coming up and look to play our best hockey.”

IU has three remaining games before the Big Ten tournament, all of which are away from home. On Saturday the Hoosiers face Providence in a neutral site game in Louisville, Ky., where they will play the Louisville Cardinals the next day.

“We really need to come out strong and play both Providence and Louisville as tough as we can because they’re very hungry teams,” Robertson said.

This will be the last set of back-to-back games for the Hoosiers unless they are able to advance to the second round of the tournament.

“I like the preparation this provides for us going to the Big Ten tournament,” Robertson said. “We have to play Thursday — win that game. Then, you play Friday, back-to-back days. Then, you get a day to recover before the championship.”
