Phillip Long, an employee of Traditional Dining Hall in Read Center, was found unconscious and facing the floor during employee dining time between 3:45 and 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Multiple emergency personnel vehicles, including two ambulances and a police car, responded to the scene and were positioned in the circle drive at Read. Long was placed on a stretcher and carried out of the building.
He was reportedly sitting at a table and had mentioned to fellow employee Carol Bruce, who was working at the time, that he was not feeling well. Bruce reported Long’s condition to a supervisor.
When she returned, she discovered him apparently unconscious on the floor beneath where he had been sitting.
All that is known is that Long has a medical condition that may have been a factor in the ordeal, as collected from Residential Programs and Services Traditional Dining staff and co-workers.
The supervisor working at the time declined comment.
