Three people were arrested Monday in connection to an armed robbery earlier that morning. A fourth suspect has yet to be arrested.
About 12:48 a.m. Monday, Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an armed robbery call at the intersection of Vernal Pike and Innovation Court.
A 20-year-old man reported he was traveling in a white pickup truck with Taylor Jo Anne Weiss, 19, Tanner Smith, 18, and Zackary Gray, 22 — the three suspects already arrested — and a fourth person.
After traveling a short distance, the group arrived at the intersection, Chief Deputy Mike Pershing said in a press release. Then the suspects and the victim exited the vehicle together for what the victim thought was a smoke break.
Instead, the suspects robbed him at knifepoint, taking prescription pills, a laptop and a wallet.
The victim was able to flee without injury, Pershing said.
Monroe County deputies obtained a search warrant for Smith’s residence and, with the assistance of the Ellettsville Police Department, the items were all recovered.
Weiss faces a preliminary charge of assisting a criminal.
Smith faces preliminary charges of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, a class B felony, and possession of stolen property, a class D felony.
Gray faces a preliminary charge of conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
The investigation is ongoing, Pershing said, and additional arrests are expected.
