The IU Police Department reported a rape that occurred between 2 and 3 a.m. Tuesday in the 1700 block of North Jordan Avenue.
The offense reportedly occurred in the area of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity house, although it is unclear where in the block it took place. It was reported at 9:54 p.m. Wednesday.
IU Police Chief Keith Cash said the victim was assaulted by an acquaintance. The female said it started as consensual but became non-consensual.
“According to the male it was consensual,” Cash said in an email. “In many such cases one side believes they have consent while the other does not.”
He said the victim does not want any further action to be taken.
“We always allow the prosecutor to decide on such cases and they have never charged one of ours where the victim does not want to pursue it.”
