A suspicious male in the area of east Atwater and south Fess avenues followed two female students early Sunday morning, IU Police Lt. Andy Stephenson said in a Protect IU email.
The females reported that the male “made them feel uncomfortable” and when they began to run away from him, he chased after them.
The females approached an IUPD police officer who was working in the area.
IUPD officers searched the area, but the suspect was not located. The suspect was described as a white male with short dark hair in his mid to late 20’s. The suspect is approximately 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall and was described to have “large muscles.”
Anyone with information should contact IUPD at 812-855-4111.
IUPD encourages everyone to follow safety tips when walking outside. Be aware of surroundings and avoid unsafe situations. If walking at night or early morning, everyone should walk with a friend in well-lit, well-traveled areas. Do not take shortcuts through wooded areas, parking lots or alleys and hold purses close.
