National Weather Service issues heat advisory for Bloomington area on Tuesday

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a heat advisory for the Bloomington area.

The advisory will last until 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Temperatures are expected to remain in the low 90s throughout the day, while the heat index may reach 110 degrees.

The high level of heat and humidity can cause heat stress for anyone who is working or playing outside, as well as those who do not have air conditioning indoors, the National Weather Service advised.

Heat exhaustion and heat stroke are also possibilities, and the National Weather Service recommends rescheduling any outdoor work to early morning or evening and wearing light weight, loose fitting clothing while drinking plenty of water.

If anyone is experiencing the symptoms of heat stroke — which include nausea, headache and muscle cramps— they are advised to call 911.
