BPD interested in body found on the northeast side of Indianapolis

The Bloomington Police Department has expressed interest in a highly decomposed body of a woman found Sunday on the northeast side of Indianapolis.

Witnesses reported seeing a body in Fall Creek at about 7 p.m. Sunday, the Indianapolis Star reported.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the body, and a coroner will perform an autopsy on it Tuesday. The body is so highly decomposed that it is impossible to tell its race, age or size. The only thing that police say they are certain of is that it is a woman.

BPD Lt. Bill Parker released a statement to the press saying that they were interested in knowing more about the results of the autopsy.

Fox 59 reported that Noblesville Police are also interested in the results as an elderly woman went missing there recently.

Parker released the following statement via email:

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has recovered a decomposed body from Fall Creek on the north east side of Indianapolis. Bloomington Police investigators are in contact with IMPD, but at this time there is not enough information for IMPD to determine the identity or a basic description. A forensic examination is pending which hopefully will provide more information.
