Bored and broke this summer?

Here are some things to do this summer that won’t break your budget.

FUN FROLIC
Weekdays starting at 6 p.m., weekends starting at 3 p.m.
June 10 to June 18
West lot of Memorial Stadium.
$1 per ticket (most rides cost 2-4 tickets), $12 to access as many rides as you want)

IU CINEMA
Cost is $3 with a valid student ID, $6 for the general public
Great films are shown all summer long at the IU Cinema.

INDIANA LIMESTONE SYMPOSIUM
Open houses are from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays
June 5 to 28
Bybee Stone Company, 6525 W. Maple Grove Rd., Ellettsville
Free.
Watch as works of art are sculpted from Indiana limestone.
Artists may also come and try their hand at sculpting during the Symposium’s numerous workshops.

PREHISTORIC CULTURES OF THE GREAT LAKES AND OHIO VALLEY
Tuesday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 1 to 4:30 p.m.
Glenn A. Black Laboratory of Archaeology, 423 N. Fess St.
A presentation of Native American cultures that flourished in the Ohio River Valley and the Great Lakes from the end of the last Ice Age to the early Historic Period.

KARAOKE AT THE FOURWINDS
7 to 10 p.m. every night
Fourwinds Resort and Marina, 9301 S. Fairfax Rd.

KIRKWOOD OBSERVATORY OPEN HOUSE
9:30 to 11:30 p.m. every Wednesday night (weather permitting)
Kirkwood Observatory in Dunn’s Woods, near the intersection of Indiana Avenue and Fourth Street.
Take a peek at the stars and planets of our celestial neighborhood. One type of celestial body is normally the primary focus at each event, depending on what’s the easiest to see the night of an open house.
Free.

JAZZ AT CAFE D'JANGO
Wednesday 7 to 9 p.m., Friday 7 to 11:30 p.m., Saturday 9 to 11:30 p.m.
Cafe D’jango, 116 N. Grant Street.
Cafe D’jango showcases local jazz musicians every week.
Wednesday events cost $4, Friday and Saturday events cost $5.

TASTE OF BLOOMINGTON
June 18 from 3 to 11 p.m. at the Showers Common at Seventh and Morton streets.
$6 per person
Featuring food and drink from Bloomington’s best restaurants, pubs, wineries and breweries as well as live musical entertainment.

SUMMER GARDEN WALK
June 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, June 19 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The Monroe County History Center, 202 E. Sixth St.
Cost is $8 in advance, $10 the day of the event.  
The Bloomington Garden Club will lead participants through five beautiful local gardens.
