Bloomington man tied up, robbed Saturday evening

A man reported to the Bloomington Police Department that he was tied up and robbed Saturday night.

The 22-year-old victim reported to police that at about 8 p.m. two men followed him to his doorway at the 500 block of South Washington. They then forced themselves through his door, BPD Lt. Faron Lake said.

They tackled the victim and punched him, causing injuries to his face. They told him to give them his money, Lake said.

The men then tied the victim up and stole credit cards, a white MacBook and several hundred dollars in cash, Lake said.

The suspects left, and the victim was able to untie himself.

Police said they think it was a crime of opportunity, that the suspects happened to see the victim get dropped off in a nice car, Lake said. He said he didn’t think it was drug related.

The victim described the suspects as black males, about 5’10 or 5’11. One had a medium build, the other a stocky build. They both had short hair. One of the men called the other “Trenton.”
