If dancing’s ‘What You Came For,’ you got it

Even though it has some harsh and in-your-face sounds, Vanity Theft’s newest album “Get What You Came For” is basically the same brand as a lot of by-the-book contemporary music.

It is the classic cookie-cutter all-female band. However, the group does bring its own attitudes to the album.

“Get What You Came For” is an upbeat and danceable album, and opener “Trainwreck” is probably the best example of this. The chorus is repeated constantly, which makes the song even more fun, and the strong drum beats make it easy to dance to. “Rattle Rattle” is similar to the opener with its hefty drums and lyrics.

“Anatomy” adds a touch of R&B to the mix, which is a little different from the rest of the album, but it is still pretty good. “Missing Teeth” makes for a good closer with its different guitar riffs and techno sound.

Ultimately, Vanity Theft’s new album makes for a fun dance mix, but there is little depth or originality beneath the surface.
