Hoosiers take strong start to Oklahoma

The IU softball team will look to continue its winning ways when it travels to Norman, Okla., to play in the Oklahoma Spring Festival. The Hoosiers will open the tournament Saturday with games against Missouri State and host school, No. 10 Oklahoma.

The Hoosiers’ strong pitching has been one of the biggest reasons behind their 10-8 start to the season, and sophomore pitcher Jessica Dobson said she thought that senior Morgan Melloh has been the biggest reason for the outstanding pitching.

“I think Morgan is doing a great job jumping ahead of the batters,” Dobson said. “If you look at it, she has two strikes on all batters, which definitely puts them back on their heels.”

Freshman Ashley Warrum said the Hoosiers need to get better at getting hits at the right time.

“Everybody is doing a good job getting hits, it’s just when we get the hits,” Warrum said. “We just need to really focus on getting the hits when people are on base.”
