Democratic mayoral candidate John Hamilton had a press conference Tuesday to speak on the homelessness issue in Bloomington.
He said the city has a duty to respond.
Hamilton said homelessness has been a problem for many years and city officials should have addressed it already.
“We need a permanent, year-round shelter,” Hamilton said. “I’m committed to have that available by the winter of 2012, if not before, working with all the partners on the ground. I think leadership needs to bring those groups together to get it resolved.”
