Verizon expands service in southern Indiana

Verizon Wireless has activated a new cell site in Bloomington that improves voice and data in southeastern Monroe County, including areas of Lake Monroe and the Paynetown State Recreation Area.

Coverage is also improved for travelers along State Road 446 between Paynetown Road and the Monroe-Lawrence county line.

The new cell site, which is equipped with a permanent backup generator for times of emergency, enables more Verizon Wireless customers to rely on their wireless devices for social networking, Internet browsing, downloading apps and music, exchanging e-mails and texts, picture and video messages, watching high-quality videos and making calls.

The company’s ongoing network investment in Indiana now totals more than $1.1 billion.
Nationally, Verizon Wireless has invested more than $60 billion since it was formed — $5.7 billion on average every year — to increase the coverage and capacity of its nationwide network and to add new services.
