Five draft cards were tossed into a small fire as 75 students questioned and discussed recent IU activities — the boycott, the student interest and participation in campus happenings.
No rallies were planned to continue from the dance the night before, but students were found in the meadow the next day reading, sunbathing and waking from an impromptu camp-out. Money from the dance was donated to the Graduate Library fund.
"By 5 a.m. the only sound in the meadow was that of the birds," according to an IDS article. "Students bedded down for the night, some in tents, and even more under the open sky. The meadow was quiet, but when the sun began to shine, and persons peeked out from their tents to see that anyother day was here, life began again in Dunn Meadow."
Unexpected all-nighter
