Diversity leadership conference to focus on gender achievements

The second annual Men and Women of Color Leadership Conference will focus on empowering men and woman to be leaders in their communities.

The conference will take place Friday and Saturday in the Godfrey Graduate and Executive Education Center in the Kelley School of Business and the Indiana Memorial Union.

Sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Multicultural Affairs, the conference aims to promote personal and academic success for African-American, Asian-American, Latino and Native American men and women.

The event will be the first to include high school participants. Students, professors and faculty from various universities will also attend.

This year’s conference will also feature four keynote speakers, including James Young, the first black mayor of Philadelphia, Miss., and Evelyn Hu-DeHart, director of the Center for the Study of Race and Ethnicity in America at Brown University.
