Tracking the progress of the men's soccer team

Can Hoosiers continue to trend?

IU men’s soccer has played 11 games, the exact number of contests the team had played at this point last season.

The Hoosiers’ 11-game record in 2009: 6-4-1. Their 11-game record this season: 6-4-1.

Six games remain in the 2010 regular season. Half of those games are against currently ranked teams (No. 18 Michigan State, No. 12 Butler and No. 15 Ohio State).  With a current 4-0 record against ranked teams, IU could easily beat its 9-8-1 record of the 2009 regular season. Then again, a current 2-4-1 record against unranked opponents leaves questions.

Will Todd Yeagley and company continue to step up to their ranked foes? Or will the new IU coach, with the legendary last name, lead his program to the same finish it had under Mike Frietag a year ago, with one of the worst records in the program’s history?

Bruin wins third weekly Big Ten award of season

Will Bruin can’t be stopped.

The junior forward’s ninth and 10th goals of the season, both of which came within a two-minute span against No. 11 Creighton on Oct. 9, gave Bruin a three-goal week and his third Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week Honor this season. Bruin earned the honor twice last month.
