Robert Goodman announced his resignation Tuesday as the dean of the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation, said IU Spokesman Larry MacIntyre.
The dean, who joined IU in 2007, will become a full-time faculty member to resume teaching and researching.
In a letter emailed to campus officials, Provost Karen Hanson addressed Goodman’s dedication to the school in his years as dean.
“Dean Goodman has helped advance HPER through his leadership of a number of initiatives, most notably through his vision of a transition of HPER to a school of public health,” Hanson wrote. “His efforts on this initiative have resulted in enormous progress toward that goal.”
Hanson named Mohammad Torabi, chancellor’s professor and chair of the Department of Applied Health Science, to serve as interim dean of the school.
