IU to provide traffic twitter updates for football games

IU Athletics will be utilizing a Twitter page  this year to provide updated traffic information for football fans.

With road construction underway on the 45/46 Bypass, traffic congestion will be multiplied for Thursday night’s football home opener against Towson and all other home games this season.

Construction on the 45/46 Bypass will focus on widening roadways, but fans should expect lane restrictions during games. Construction is scheduled to continue through 2012.

The university adopted a revamped traffic plan for football games in 2009 and will continue to utilize it this season. The plan consists of a clockwise pattern of traffic around the stadium prior to games. The post-game pattern is intended to feed vehicles to main highways.

The Indiana Department of Transportation will also alter traffic signals on SR 37, SR 67 and at the I-465/SR 37 exit during expected traffic times to manage vehicle flow.
