Marcus Bigbee, age 23, was a former student at IU and IUPUI graduate. He died in a car accident in Indianapolis while a passenger to a possible drunk driver.
At about 3:15 a.m., Bigbee died on impact of the crash, according to a Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department report.
The driver, Adam Kimmons, age 22, crashed into a wooden utility pole on the intersection of N. Tibbs Ave. and Lafayette Rd. that caused himself and the two other passengers to be trapped in the wrecked vehicle.
Officers smelled alcohol on Kimmons breath and noticed slurred speech. Kimmons denied a breathalyzer and officers took a blood sample from him. He was put into custody, according to the IMPD report.
Kimmons told police he drank three beers and smoked marijuana. He states in the police report that they were following a friend home and he was “going too fast and lost control of the car.” Kimmons also stated they were not going over 60 mph and that there was a nail in the front tire causing it to leak air.
