Student leaders from various IU Asian and Asian-American student organizations will participate in Saturday’s Asian Culture Center Student Leadership Retreat, a team-building and student leadership development program.
The program features a free trip to Bradford Woods— IU’s Outdoor Center — consisting of team-building and leadership development activities.
Melanie Castillo-Cullather, the culture center’s director, said the retreat provides leaders of student organizations with an opportunity to build mutual trusts and strong relationships.
“It aims to build group cohesiveness, cooperation, trust, and the development of communication, leadership and decision-making skills.” Castillo-Cullather said.
She also said the center coordinates the retreat at the beginning of each fall semester because it helps students get know each other and be comfortable with whom they will be working throughout the year.
“We are hoping that the students come out feeling
supported, empowered and knowledgeable about campus resources,” Castillo-Cullather said.
