Accident at Swain and Third results in pedestrian injury

Accident in front of The Mac

A pedestrian was injured with a possible broken leg after a two-car collision around 6:30 p.m. on Third Street and Swain Avenue.

A white Ford Taurus and a red Buick Oldsmobile were driving west on Third Street when the white car swerved into the left lane, hitting the other car. The driver of the red car swerved off the road into a light pole, hitting the pedestrian, witnesses said.

The pedestrian was standing on the sidewalk when she was hit. The area outside Mother Bear's was crowded Friday evening.

The pedestrian was conscious, but paramedics bandaged the woman’s leg on scene, and she was sent to Bloomington Hospital. Her name has not yet been released.

The two people in the red car also went to Bloomington Hospital with a cut to the arm and neck pain. Only one passenger in the white car was injured from hitting his head and said he would drive himself to the hospital, said IU Police Department Chief Keith Cash.
