Man shot in argument, woman faces voluntary manslaughter

The Bloomington Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at 9:45 p.m. yesterday on Lindbergh Drive.

Vincent Jackson had been arguing with his girlfriend, Ashley Cox, and her mother, Clansic Cox, throughout the evening at Cox’s house on Lindbergh.

According to the police report, “Jackson attempted to retrieve a firearm in the house to deal with a neighborhood dispute. Ashley and her mother…located the weapon, a .45 caliber handgun, to keep Jackson from finding it due to his level of intoxication.”

After leaving the apartment, Jackson broke a window from outside and Clansic Cox confronted him, still in possession of the handgun. The two began to argue, and Jackson taunted Clansic Cox to shoot him.

“Jackson advanced toward her and the gun discharged striking Jackson in the forehead,” the report said.

Clansic Cox was taken into custody and transported to the Bloomington Police Department for investigation. She was arrested on a charge of Voluntary Manslaughter, a Class A Felony with a Deadly Weapon.
