IU alumnus wins Emmy for 'Glee'

Last night, IU alumnus Ryan Murphy snagged the Emmy Award for Outstanding Director in a Comedy Series for “Glee” — a musical series on Fox.

Murphy started his writing career during his freshman year at IU as an intern at the Knoxville News Sentinel covering the police beat. He graduated with a journalism degree and worked for The Washington Post, The Miami Herald and The New York Daily News before entering the entertainment industry, where he developed his first television series, “Popular”. He is also the creator of “Nip/Tuck” and directed the recently released Julia Robert’s film “Eat, Pray, Love.”
