'Twlight: Eclipse'

ecl

Release Date: June 30
Starring: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner

One of the more obnoxious fanatical fan cults in recent memory, “Twi-hards” will be out in droves for the newest installment to the film adaptations of Stephanie Meyer’s “Twilight” saga, “Eclipse.”

The stakes continue to rise in this film for the main characters Bella, Edward and Jacob, played by Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner’s abdominals, respectively. The story grows darker, with the plot centering around a string of mysterious killings in Seattle. This falls in tune with the change to director David Slade, whose works include “30 Days of Night” and “Hard Candy,” and who will aid the progression toward a more polarizing, intense film.

Bella is faced with a choice between Edward and Jacob, adding the romantic story line that hormone-charged teen girls drool over, wishing Edward Cullen would come and peep on them also while they sleep.

One major casting change of note is Bryce Dallas-Howard replacing Rachel Lefevre due to alleged scheduling conflicts. As the series approaches its more climactic moments, the hope is that Dallas-Howard can fit in seamlessly and maintain necessary continuity.

If you’re excited about this movie, you’re probably going to enjoy it. The previous two films, however lacking, are always vehemently defended by fans. Otherwise, “Eclipse” is nothing more than a cash-driven adaptation powered by a fanatical fan base, led by perhaps the cruelest creature of them all: teenage girls.
