'Toy Story 3'

ts3

Release Date: June 18
Starring:
Tom Hanks, Tim Allen

The timeline of “Toy Story 2”’s human boy Andy has kept up with the 11 years since that film was released. In “Toy Story 3,” Andy is now in college, and he has donated his collection of toys to a children’s day care. Woody, Buzz and the rest of the gang are to be picked over by the wild kids, as are a sort of secret society of toys as voiced by newcomers Michael Keaton, Timothy Dalton, Bonnie Hunt and Ned Beatty.

Both the original Pixar masterpiece and its equally good sequel have a perfect 100 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes. Pixar has not made an even remotely bad film yet, but the identical cast and director for the previous installment will have to prove to the world that a movie with a “3” on the end of it can still be magical. Helping their cause will be screenwriter Michael Arndt, whose “Little Miss Sunshine” screenplay won him an Oscar.

It’s a scary thought to have high hopes for a three-quel, but “Toy Story 3” is not a Disney reboot. Director Lee Unkrich and Executive Producer John Lasseter are creating art, not a franchise.
