An IU student was killed in a collision early Saturday morning.
Rebecca Lanter, a 21-year-old senior, suffered fatal injuries after losing control of her car and crashing into a tree. Officers were notified of the accident on Monroe Dam Road at 2:16 a.m.
She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to the accident report filed by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Results of drug and alcohol tests are still pending.
