Five people have been arrested in connection with a drug investigation conducted by the Bloomington Police Department.
Detective Brandon Lopossa had been conducting an investigation of a residence at 921 Cardinal Court for some time because of the resident’s connection with cocaine.
Uniformed officers and others in the special investigations unit arrived at the residence at 12:44 a.m. Tuesday to serve warrants to those they knew were present in the household.
When they arrived and identified themselves, Brandon Barnett, 25, ran from the front yard to the rear of the house where he was captured and taken into custody.
He was arrested for resisting law enforcement, possession of marijuana and visiting a common nuisance. He also had a warrant out for his arrest from the state of Illinois for drug dealing.
When they entered the house they located their target suspects, Lawrence Lofton, 35, and Amanda Holland, 27. Loften faces preliminary charges of five counts of dealing cocaine, which is an A felony. Holland, who lives at the residence, faces preliminary charges of maintaining a common nuisance, a class D felony.
Officers also arrested Jamie Chavez, 29, and Ulysses Goethe, 26. Chavez faces a preliminary charge of dealing cocaine, and Goethe faces preliminary charges of visiting a common nuisance.
It was also determined that two children were in the residence, ages 1 and 6. The two children in the household belong to Holland, but they are currently in the custody of Child Protective Services.
This case is still under investigation.
