Willkie seizure witness wanted in California for counterfeit charges

It was learned that a witness to a seizure in Willkie Residence Center on Tuesday was wanted by out of state police for counterfeiting charges.

IU Police Officer Ryan Skaggs was dispatched to Willkie in response to an employee who suffered a seizure in the C-Store walk-in refrigerator.

According to the IUPD report read by IUPD Lt. Craig Munroe, the victim was breathing and had a pulse when officers arrived. The victim was unconscious for several minutes and eventually taken to Bloomington Hospital.

IUPD learned that one of the witnesses to the incident was wanted by the state of California for counterfeiting charges. The state of California has no desire to extradite him and the charges will not be pursued locally.

Local officials did inform the Secret Service about the suspect.
