The 1-year-old Tea Party has been sweeping like wildfire all across the country — and across the ocean, too. The Tea Party has made its way to England, where its popularity is growing in leaps and bounds.
Participants have been having tea parties across the country, always at the proper time of 4 p.m.
“It’s been hugely controversial,” Prime Minister Gordon Brown said. “What is the proper thing to put in a cup of tea?”
Tea Partiers have been rallying in London to show their support of their chosen tea ingredients. Last week, a fight broke out between lemon supporters and sugar supporters.
Even the queen has been swept up in the movement. She has already held several tea parties in Buckingham Palace this week.
“I prefer two sugars in my tea,” she told reporters. “Though I’m not against a little lemon now and then.”
Plain tea drinkers are being hit hardest, as everyone gangs up on them for not adding anything to their beverages.
