At 1 a.m Sunday, a van with seven occupants fled from an on-foot IU Police Department officer at Teter Quad and flipped over onto the sidewalk of 10th Street.
According to the police report, read by IUPD Lt. Craig Munroe, Officer Patrick Hammel approached the vehicle while it was on Teter’s circle drive. The vehicle drove away, struck a sign and continued north on Sunrise Drive.
The vehicle then made a left at the intersection onto 10th Street, driving through the red light. The van struck the curb and flipped onto its right side. The roof of the vehicle hit the stone barrier, temporarily trapping the passengers inside. Fire units responded and the passengers were taken to Bloomington Hospital.
According to the report, two of the five individuals were not injured. The passengers were interviewed and claimed that while the driver sped off, they told her to stop. The six passengers were not arrested.
Jordan Fisher, the driver, refused to answer questions involving the accident.
A blood test was administered to determine the driver’s alcohol level, but the results have been sent to the Indiana State Department of Toxicology in Indianapolis to be tested and are currently not available.
Fisher is facing preliminary charges of Felony OWI with serious bodily injury and a second felony for resisting law-enforcement with use of a vehicle.
