Wanted man asks officer for ride

A 21-year-old male is being charged with public intoxication after placing himself inside a parked Bloomington Police squad car over the weekend.

At 3:09 a.m. Jan. 29, Officer Bill Abram responded to a call at 515 E. 11 St. Abram made an arrest and placed the individual in the rear of the police car. After the individual was in police custody, Abram proceeded to unlock the car door to enter the driver side.

According to the report by BPD, Abram observed “an unknown male opening the back door of the car to try and get in it.”

The unknown male was Spencer J. Dwyer of Winnetka, Ill. When Abram asked Dwyer what he was doing, the individual responded, “He wanted a ride,” the report said.

According to the report, Dwyer was also wanted on warrant for failure to appear in court for a charge of illegal consumption.
